Is the L’oreal Pro Matte Hype Real?

To all my oily girls and guys out there– the makeup gods have heard your prayers.

Despite having too long a name, this drugstore foundation is one of the most hyped product among the Youtube beauty community. L’oreal’s Infallible Line launched in the states quite a while back and they just released it out to the Philippine market. I picked up the foundation over the weekend and have been trying and testing it out; here are my thoughts.

The foundation retails in the states for $12.99 (P650) and here it’s sold for P700, not such  a bad price difference honestly. For this price you get 1 fluid ounce of product which is pretty standard for liquid foundations, drugstore and high end. So for product amount x price, you’re getting a pretty good deal.

The packaging is pretty standard, it has a nice soft matte feel to it.

The L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte 24HR Foundation, in it’s ridiculously long product name, claims to have 24 hour wear that stays put on your face the whole time. Although I don’t know any one who would want to keep foundation on for an entire earth rotation, it’s definitely an intriguing claim. It also promises a completely matte finish, so for the oily girls out there: listen up.

Me, a mess with no makeup. Check that shine on my forehead!

When I first used this product, I noticed that it wasn’t as thick as I expected it to be, which is good because a lot of full coverage products tend to be thick and heavy feeling. The coverage of the pro-matte foundation is very full, but if you are sparse with the product blend it well enough it can look really nice and natural.

Not solid but not runny either. I wear the shade 104 Golden Beige.
I make sure to moisturize really well before applying

If I’m being completely honest, I don’t wear full coverage foundations at all. Actually, I don’t even like wearing foundation period. So when I use the L’oreal Pro Matte Foundation, I’ll mix in some illuminator like the Giorgio Armani Maestro Glow or use an illuminating primer like the L’oreal Magic Lumi.

With just the Pro Matte Foundation on. Shine is gone, but still with a slight luminescence.
Finished Face. That’s Russian Red on my lips by the way.

My skin usually gets oily throughout the day whether or not I’m wearing makeup, but with this it really delivered on the whole matte thing. My face stayed shine-free the whole time I was wearing it, but at the same time it didn’t look weird or fake or dehydrated. It definitely emphasized dry patches though, so if you have dry skin, it’s best to stay away from this.

As for the wear, I only had it on for about 8 hours or so and at the end of the day, my skin still looked like it did in the morning! Honestly, I was pretty shook.

Found the most even lighting…. in a bathroom. Taken at 4:30PM (8 hours later)

Overall, I would definitely recommend this foundation especially if you have problems with keeping shine under control. It has a very nice finish and it doesn’t feel too heavy on the skin, especially if you mix it in with a moisturizer or illuminator.

I can see why there is so much hype around this product, and honestly I get it. For the price, you’re getting so much out of the product and it actually delivers on it’s promises!

So yes, the hype for the L’oreal Infallible Pro Matte 24HR Foundation is real.

Get on that.
