This month just flew on by, didn’t it?
As we bid bye felicia to March, now comes time of the month where I get to tell you what I’ve been loving this past month. That’s right, my monthly favorites are back!
So sit back, relax, and let me tell you what’s been poppin’ this month.
1. Lucas Papaw’s Ointment.
So, I know what you’re probably thinking. You’re right, the word ointment is so damn off-putting, but don’t let that fool you. I ran into this product in a drugstore in Hong Kong and bought it on a whim after seeing it around on social media.
What exactly is it? Well, it’s honestly everything.
It’s reminiscent of Vaseline, but it’s much more potent and hydrating. I initially bought it to calm itchiness (which it does wonders for!) but now I almost exclusively use it as a nighttime lip mask. Lucas Papaw must have had some chapped-ass lips because he know’s whats up, this product is insanely hydrating and is literally more efficient in curing chapped lips than all my lipbalms combined (and I’m a lipbalm junkie who never leaves the house without a Carmex so please take my word for it). I opt to use this at night because after one application, your lips will stay hydrated and plump straight on ’til morning.
2. Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub
Keeping with the lips theme, my next favorite is the Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub. They are made mostly out of sugar and whatever flavoring agent and dye depending on the flavor. I’ve owned two lip scrubs from Lush prior to this one, in Bubblegum (bright pink sugar) and Santa Baby (red cola flavored). The Popcorn one is hands down my favorite.
Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub is made with sugar and a little bit of salt to give it the classic popcorn flavor, but miraculously the salt does not draw out any moisture from your lips like I initially expected. It also has a slightly better consistency than Bubblegum and Santa Baby, so its not messy to work onto your lips and honestly it just tastes amazing.
3. Origins GinZing Eye Cream
My next skincare favorite is an eyecream. I tend to have very dark undereye circles that leave me looking tired and sallow no matter how much sleep I get. It sucks. I’ve been looking for an eye product to help with that, and I found this!
Origins describes it as energy boosting and moisturizing because it contains citrus oil and shea butter. Citrus oil or Vitamin C is used in many “glow promoting” products because it brightens up and gives life back to your skin. Shea Butter is notoriously moisturizing. The combination of these two is a godsend. After the first use, I already noticed a difference when I woke up the next morning.
I did splurge on this at P1,400 for 15mL of product, but since you don’t need a lot of product per application and since it works really well with me, I can say it’s definitely worth it.
4. First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream
This brand had been making its rounds on the Youtube beauty community for a while before I finally tried it out. Ultra Repair Cream is my ultimate go-to moisturizer, it’s really that good. It’s quite potent so I’m light handed when applying, but it does it’s job so well so I can’t complain. The best part is that it’s really rather affordable, and you get a good amount of product for what you pay. I got the travel sized one and it lasted me about 5 months!
1. Tarte Clay Paint Eyeliner in Bronze
Tarte is slowly becoming one of my favorite cosmetic brands. I don’t have a lot of it in my collection since it’s not sold locally, but what I do have, I love. This is the newest addition to my collection.
This eyeliner is so pretty and easy to use. It’s a cream formula which means its soft so you don’t have to wrestle with your brush to get product onto it. It also comes in a tube so it’s not prone to drying out like other gel/cream liners. I like this one in Bronze because the color is so natural and soft, perfect for a no-makeup makeup look. My favorite way to use this is to just line the outer lash line to give it some depth and dimension. In fact, that’s exactly what I did for my Belle makeup!
2. MAC Blush in Harmony
I randomly picked this up at the MAC store ages ago, and this has been my go to blush for March. It’s a really neutral and natural cool pink. I use this mostly nearer the hollows of my cheeks and its perfect for that touch of color. I also used this in my Belle makeup look!
Fun fact: 2016 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach also uses this a lot which explains why I always get mistaken for her.
3. Kailijumei Flower Lipstick
Yes. Chinese Flower Lipstick. This is a clear lipstick with a flower on the inside surrounded by gold flakes. It adjusts to the “perfect pink shade’ depending on the PH level of your skin. I’m sure you’ve all seen this on a Buzzfeed post or Facebook video or something of the sort. That’s where I first saw it. Then I saw it in real life in Japan and had to get it. I mean, even just for the novelty of the thing.
Surprise, surprise! It’s actually so good. It glides on so smoothly and is very hydrating. On me, it creates a flush of medium pink and it makes me look 5 years younger and 5 times cuter.
1. Piopio Earrings
You guys these earrings are everything. If you haven’t heard of Piopio, it’s an Instragram brand by Paloma Zobel that uses all native Filipino hand-woven fabrics and turns them in to amazing pieces. They had a popup store recently and I picked up a few things, including these earrings (which almost didn’t happen). While shopping around, I dismissed them at first because they were really expensive. Most everything at Piopio is on the pricier side since all their products are handmade, but hey you’re paying for quality and to support local weaving communities! Then as I was at the counter paying, I just decided to try them on for fun.
Yeah. Big mistake.
I immediately fell in love. They were perfect and completely fully made for me. At least that’s what I repeatedly told myself to justify spending P5,000 on them. Yes, you read that right. No, I don’t have regrets.
They’re handmade with gold hardware and colorful tassels. These earrings are perfect since I mostly wear black clothes, so they provide that pop of vibrancy that I love!
That’s all for the month of March! Hope you picked up some good ones on this post.
